Vermont Youth Development Corps AmeriCorps Summer Program

VYDC will place five summer members at organizations around Vermont that provide innovative opportunities and support youth in making healthy choices. Members collaborate with teen centers, after-school programs, schools, parents, and other local groups to help youth build strong connections to their communities and develop the skills and attitudes they need to make healthy choices. VYDC summer members will run summer camps and programming such as arts, recreation and sports, community service, mentoring, academic support, nutrition programs, and more.

Members will serve a total of 450 hours, though the specific term of service depends on the site's needs. During their term, members receive a living allowance of $3,127. Upon successful completion, they will receive a $1,415 education award.

Anyone interested in applying can go to the main website at http://www.americorps.gov/. Under “Join AmeriCorps” click “Advanced Opportunity Search,” under State, choose Vermont, and in Program Name, type VYDC and click Search. From there, you can view and apply to all of the programs that interest you. The positions will be open until filled.
