POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title:                   Education Technology Specialist  
Department:                      Griswold Library  
Salary Range:                     Full-time, 9-month position
Reports To:                         Director of Library, IT Services and Learning Support Services

Basic Function:  The Educational Technology Specialist plays a critical role by assisting the college in promoting the integration of instructional technology across the curriculum.  The Educational Technology Specialist manages Epsilen, the online learning management systems used for the college’s undergraduate and masters educational programs.  This is a full-time, 10-month position, with hourly summer work available.  For more information contact:   Paul Millette at tel # 802-287-8223 or at millettep@greenmtn.edu 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • General administration of Epsilen, the College’s online learning management platform used to support the delivery of curriculum resources
  • Knowledge of multiple hardware and software platforms, possessing strategies for installing and maintaining such configurations used in online learning primarily and in library resources management
  • Ability to understand and implement new educational technologies
  • Provide assistance to faculty and staff in using technology in support of teaching and research
  • File, store, and manage an online archive of electronic resources used in support of the curriculum
  • Complete performance monitoring of the learning platform, perform system tuning, and ensure integrity of data from infancy to archiving
  • Actively participate with faculty in posting visually effective online learning curriculum
  • Share responsibility for managing the college’s AV/Media equipment

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate, along with the IT staff, in planning for and implementing technology in the classroom
  • Train faculty and staff in the use of educational technology
  • Actively assist Library in providing effective delivery of public and reference services
  • Assume lead role in maintaining web content pages for the Library, IT Services, & the Learning Center
  • Requires some evening and weekend work

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train and supervise student workers in the use of AV/Media and educational instructional technology  
  • Train and supervise a student to assistant with the college’s online learning management system

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with web-based learning/content delivery systems
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with a variety of equipment and internet interfaces
  • Demonstrated skills in managing multiple ongoing projects to successful completion
  • Ability to collaborative with departments across campus; work in a fast-paced environment; and problem solve in unique and creative ways  
  • Solid customer service skills; strong communications skills
